Zambia Weights and Measures Agency ensures fair trade in transaction where measurements are made and it provides consumer protection in commercial transaction that requires accurate measurement by seller. In a broader sense, Weights and Measures
ensure the protection of society in areas of health, safety and the environment. In other words, legal metrology in which ZWMA deals controls the interaction between regulations and measurements.

The fundamental key aspect of legal metrology is measurement traceability in trade dealings of consume goods, health, safety and the environments.
Traceability simply means that legal measurements (accuracy) are traceable through an unbroken chain of measurement comparisons back to the national standard and in turn to the international standard.

Hence forth the Zambia Weights and Measures Agency (ZWMA)needs to be supported by all in order to achieve the desired results of verifying  accuracy for all weighing and measuring instruments that are used in trade and check weighing of prepackaged commodities for correct quantities.
