The Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Commerce, Trade and Industry, Kayula Siame has urged women to continuously network in order to share ideas, learn from each other and the latest happenings from the global arena.
Mrs. Siame noted that women cannot allow themselves to be isolated and be in their own world hence networking is key so as to share the experiences with the rest of the women.
The Permanent Secretary said this during the launch of the Business and Professional Women’s Club in Zambia by the Global Business and Professional Women’s International Federation held at Le Elementos Boutique Hotel.
Mrs. Siame disclosed that her ministry has some of the tools that are required to support women as they go forward.
“Iam happy to be here with you and also to support as we shall achieve as we go alone together and look at the various aspects of what we can do as Business and Professional women.”
In a separate interview, Mrs. Siame mentioned that Government has put up with interventions and programmes that are supporting women in the area of investments especial women in the industrial and trade sectors.
“For instance, under our Citizen Economic Empowerment Commission (CEEC), we have deliberately reserved 40 percent of the empowerment packages to be targeted for women and Shetrades project connecting 3 Million women to the international market by 2021 where we are identifying challenges and finding solutions for women just to mention a few,” she noted.
The Permanent Secretary concluded by reiterating that Government will continue making concerted efforts directed at enhancing women participation in economic and trade activities in order to reduce the disparities between men and women.
