The Ministry of Commerce, Trade and Industry through the Business Regulatory Review Agency (BRRA) hosted a delegation from the Ministry of Trade and Industry, Ghana from 25th to 27th March, 2024. The aim of the visit was to learn the design, coordination, and management of a sustainable business environment reforms framework in Zambia.
The delegation, led by Mr. Kofi Addo, Director, One District – One Factory, Ministry of Trade and Industry, and accompanied by Her Excellency, Mrs. Khadija Iddrisu, Ghanaian High Commissioner to Zambia, paid a Courtesy Call on the Ministry on 25th March, 2024 in the Ministerial Conference Room.
The purpose of the Courtesy Call was for the Ghanaian delegation to appreciate the role of the Ministry in the formulation and implementation of business reforms in Zambia.
The meeting was officiated by Mrs. Lillian S. Bwalya, Permanent Secretary Trade and Commerce. In her remarks, she mentioned that it was gratifying to note the expression of interest from the Ministry of Trade and Industry, Ghana to undertake a Mission to learn about the sustainable business environment reforms framework in Zambia. She also expressed gratitude to the delegation for paying a courtesy call on the Ministry.
She acknowledged Zambia’s cordial bilateral relations with Ghana and that the visit would further strengthen the long-standing cooperation between the two countries in various fields.
Mrs. Bwalya stated that the Ministry was responsible for creating an enabling environment that facilitates trade and investments and highlighted that the Ministry through BRRA is spearheading the development and implementation of a number of reforms, among them the Single Licensing System, Regulatory Services Centres, and the electronic registry. These interventions are aimed at ensuring that the cost of doing business is reduced.
And Her Excellency, Mrs. Khadija Iddrisu, Ghanaian High Commissioner to Zambia indicated that she was delighted to engage with the Ministry to appreciate efforts that the Government of Zambia was making towards creating a conducive business environment and further enhance the bilateral relations between the two countries.
