Zambia and Egypt: Unlocking New Avenues of Cooperation

President Hakainde Hichilema has emphasized the importance of intra-African trade and strengthening bilateral relations with Egypt. During a courtesy call at State House, the President met with Egyptian Ambassador Mayada Essam and Arab Contractors Egypt CEO, Eng. Ahmed El Assar, to explore opportunities for economic cooperation.
The discussions centered on key sectors such as energy, mining, tourism, and agriculture, with a focus on water harvesting technologies and waste management solutions.
President Hichilema stressed the need for Zambia and Egypt to leverage their historic partnership, dating back to 1965, to drive economic development and unlock new areas of shared growth and prosperity.
“Africa must do business with itself,” President Hichilema said, highlighting the potential for mutually beneficial collaborations between Zambia and Egypt. The meeting underscored the commitment to strengthening bilateral relations and advancing economic partnerships between the two nations.
This renewed focus on cooperation comes as Zambia and Egypt seek to build on their long-standing ties and explore new opportunities for economic growth and development.
